On Saturday, June 19, 2010, there will be a “Prairie Print Maker Exhibition” showcasing over 200 works of art from more than 50 different artists in various media from the renowned Kansas-based Prairie Print Maker society.
The reception for the show will be held from 6 to 9 PM on the third floor of the Commerce Building, located at 401 East Douglas Avenue in Wichita, Kansas at the largest fine arts retail gallery in Kansas, Mid-America Fine Arts.
Admission is free and refreshments will be served. This posthumous exhibition is intended to highlight and renew interest in some of Kansas’ most prolific artists in what art historians call “the Gold Age of American Printmaking” from the mid 1930’s through the 1960’s.
This sales exhibition is perhaps the largest Prairie Print Maker exhibition in recent years and will be the first of its kind since the dismantling of the Prairie Print Makers in the summer of 1966.
